I'll stay still, I'll listen
Apr. 4th, 2025 09:17 pmAwoken to a quiet evening
At the end of a dead end
Far away, someone's footsteps
In pain, but I'm content
Further out, a dog is barking
And beyond, the forest teems
As I watch the daylight fading
In this sleepy place of dreams
I'm grateful to be alive, though
The doors are locked around me
Forcing me to remain still
In a way, it's a good thing
Time relentlessly draws forth change
When this is over, I might miss
The quietness and distant sounds
So I'll stay still, I'll listen
I'll miss the sleepy, dreamlike place
Of quietness and distant sounds
The glow coming from my window
Where I lived and what I found
At the end of a dead end
Far away, someone's footsteps
In pain, but I'm content
Further out, a dog is barking
And beyond, the forest teems
As I watch the daylight fading
In this sleepy place of dreams
I'm grateful to be alive, though
The doors are locked around me
Forcing me to remain still
In a way, it's a good thing
Time relentlessly draws forth change
When this is over, I might miss
The quietness and distant sounds
So I'll stay still, I'll listen
I'll miss the sleepy, dreamlike place
Of quietness and distant sounds
The glow coming from my window
Where I lived and what I found
